My fascination with photography began early, thumbing through my dad’s collection of photographic books. Exploring the work of Helmut Newton, Bob Carlos Clark, Terry O’Neil, and of course David Bailey. I knew from about the age of 8 I loved the world of image making and i was going to work in that industry!
I first started assisting/running in the film industry. At Pinewood I learned a lot, fast! After a year of running on a huge mix of jobs, the opportunity came to assist a young photographer who was starting a studio in Clerkenwell. This is where I really learned how to work in the photographic industry, interpreting briefs, managing client expectations and creating a fun relaxed atmosphere to work in. While I learned to shoot product and still life at first I knew I wanted to shoot people and was able to take the disciplines I had learned and use them for portraiture, lifestyle and editorials.
One of the best things about what I do for a living is that even over the last twenty years i've always been learning, every shoot teaches me a new lesson, whether it's a new lighting trick or a cheat for directing a model. I feel I have the best job in the world, and I can't wait to see what challenges and surprises await me on my next shoot!
